Viola

The Finnish violist Anna Kreetta Gribajcevic studied with Matti Hirvikangas at the Sibelius Academy, as well as at the Hochschule für Musik Saar under the tutelage of Diemut Poppen and at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin with Kim Kashkashian. As a soloist, she has performed with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Les Siécles Paris, and the Philharmonia Orchestra London, collaborating with conductors such as Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Sakari Oramo, and Francois-Xavier Roth. Gribajcevic has performed the Finnish premieres of Ligeti’s Solo Sonata and viola concertos by Kurtag, Shchedrin, Ahma, and Aho. Her recording of Kalevi Aho’s Viola Concerto has received multiple international awards. Anna Kreetta Gribajcevic was the long-time Principal Violist of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra and held the same position in several other Finnish orchestras. Since 2012, she has been a Professor of Viola at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg and also teaches at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
