Mark Gothoni

Violin

Mark Gothoni comes from Finland. His most important teachers were Ana Chumachenco, Shmuel Ashkenasi, and Sandor Vegh. He performs in the most important concert halls, like the Berlin Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Lincoln Center New York, Wigmore Hall London, and Kioi Hall Tokyo, as well as at music festivals from Kuhmo, Finland to the Casals Festival in Puerto Rico.

He is First Violin with the Orpheus Quartet and a member of the Mozart Piano Quartet, with which he is under exclusive contract with the CD label MDG (Dabringhaus&Grimm).

He also works as Concert Master with the chamber orchestras of Munich and Zurich, among others, and is the Musical Director of the European Union Chamber Orchestra.

He is a Professor for Violin at the Berlin University of the Arts and instructs master courses all over the world.

He plays an A. Stradivarius, crafted in 1709 and owned by the Berlin University of the Arts, and an Ivo Iuliano violin from 2015.
