Woodwind quintet

Awarded First Prize (Mendelssohn Prize) at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University Competition in January 2026, the woodwind quintet “5um3” is among the most promising young chamber ensembles of its generation. The ensemble has already performed at the Konzerthaus Berlin as part of the winners’ concert. In addition, it received the Prize of the Freunde Junger Musiker Deutschland, which includes concert engagements in eight German cities.

The quintet was founded in spring 2025 and consists of Meret Louisa Vogel (flute), Jiyeon Noh (oboe), Una Weske (horn), Annika Koll (bassoon), and Max Godinic (clarinet). All members are students at the Berlin University of the Arts.

At the heart of their collaboration is an in-depth exploration of the diverse repertoire for woodwind quintet, ranging from classical works to contemporary compositions. The ensemble receives artistic inspiration through collaboration with professors at the UdK Berlin as well as through joint participation in masterclasses. In this way, they continuously refine their ensemble playing and develop a shared sonic vision.
