Harp

Álmos László Tallós, born in 2003, began studying the harp at the age of nine at a music school under the guidance of harp teacher Márta Szederkényi-Horváth. From 2017 to 2021, he continued his education at the Szent István Music High School, where Deborah Sipkay was his harp teacher. There, he deepened his knowledge of music literature, music theory, solfège, and even composition. During this time, he also gained valuable experience in orchestral and chamber music performance. Throughout his studies, he developed a highly productive and motivating relationship with his teacher, which led to many successful concerts and competitions and ultimately enabled him to be admitted to academic studies. Since October 2021, Álmos has been studying with Prof. Xavier de Maistre and Anaëlle Tourret at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre.

In addition to his work with his current teachers, he has actively participated in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Catherine Michel, Maria Graf, Marie-Pierre Langlamet, Anneleen Lenaerts, Alexander Boldachev, Manja Smits, and Elisabeth Plank.

He performs regularly both as a soloist and with orchestras. In 2021 and 2022, he appeared as a soloist with the Szent István Philharmonic, performing “Danse sacrée et profane” in the Grand Hall of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, followed by a tour with the orchestra. In 2023, he performed Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp, KV 299 together with the Hamburg Lawyers’ Orchestra. Additionally, he gave successful solo recitals at the XXII Harp Festival in Gödöllő and the Ars Sacra Festival in Budapest.

Álmos has received numerous awards in international harp competitions, including: 1st Prize at the 6th National Harp Competition of Music Schools in Budapest (2018). 1st Prize in the U19 category and the Weininger Richárd Special Prize at the 5th International Harp Competition in Szeged, Hungary (2019). 1st Prize (Platinum Medal) at the Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition (2021). Gold Medal in the U19 category at the 6th Hong Kong International Harp Competition. 5th Place at the International Harp Competition in Korea (2022). He has also participated in the 12th USA International Harp Competition and the 72nd ARD International Music Competition in Munich. In October 2022, he was named a finalist for the
Fanny Mendelssohn Förderpreis, recognized for his vision of a CD recording project titled „WELTTANZ”. Since February 2022, he has been collaborating with Yehudi Menuhin LIVE MUSIC NOW HAMBURG, performing in numerous concerts both as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles. In September 2024, he won the Elsie Kühn-Leitz Scholarship, which led to multiple concert invitations for the 2025/26 season in Wetzlar and Avignon. He has also been selected as one of the “Stars of Tomorrow” at the European Harp Symposium in 2025, where he will present an unconventional program, including his own Sonate pour harpe, Op. 6.

After completing his academic studies, Álmos aims to become a versatile artist. In addition to his concert career, he composes his own works and arrangements. His solo performances often feature his own compositions, and his goal is to create accessible contemporary music for the harp, exploring the instrument’s vast possibilities. His main inspirations include Henriette Renié, Maurice Ravel, and Béla Bartók.
