Boris Faust

Viola

Boris Faust studied viola with Matthias Buchholz
in Cologne and with Kim Kashkashian in Freiburg. In 1994, he finished his course work at the Music University Freiburg and performed his concert exam for Hatto Beyerle in the solo class of the Music University Hanover. He is a multiple prizewinner of international competitions, including the Lionel Tertis Competition in England and the Vittorio Gui Competition in Italy.

In 1992, he was awarded a stipend from the German Music Competition. Along with many years of performing as a soloist and chamber music, Boris Faust has been first solo violist at the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra since 1997. He has also often been guest first solo violist at the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra. He teaches at the University of the Arts Bremen.

Since October 2014, he has been Professor for Viola at the University for Music and Theater Hamburg.
