Ulrich Windfuhr

In Cologne, Ulrich Windfuhr studied Piano with Günter Ludwig, Conducting with Volker Wangenheim, and Chamber Music with the Amadeus Quartet. Stipends and support prizes made it possible for him to take part in the International Menuhin Academy in Gstaad. After completing his studies, he gathered experience with various instructors, including in Rome and Vienna.

Windfuhr has been a prizewinner at international conducting competitions. He has been an opera répétiteur with conducting and instruction duties at a number of theaters in Germany with a wide-ranging program. He has conducted in Korea, the United States, Italy, France, Luxembourg, and Germany. In 2007, he was appointed Professor for Conducting at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University in Leipzig. Since 2013, Ulrich Windfuhr has held the Chair for Conducting and Orchestral Conducting at the University for Music and Theater in Hamburg.
