Mio Sasaki
Violin
Mio Sasaki, born in Osaka, has been studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg with Professor Christoph Schickedanz since 2019. She is a prizewinner of numerous competitions, including the Premio Rodolfo Lipizer, the Tenerife International Competition, and Valsesia Musica. She has received first prizes at the Luigi Nono Competition (in both solo and chamber music categories), the Swiss International Competition, and the Violin Competition Saar. As a soloist, she has performed with the Hamburg and Lüneburg Symphony Orchestras, the Bazzini Consort Orchestra, and the Antonio Vivaldi Orchestra, under conductors such as Seungwon Lee, Maria Keller, Sergio Baietta, and Ernesto Colombo. She was a scholarship holder of the “Tobitate! Japan” program and Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now. In 2024, she also completed a degree in Italian Studies at Osaka University. Sasaki currently plays a violin by Antonio Pelizon from Gorizia (ca. 1820), kindly loaned to her by violin maker Christian Erichson of Hanover.
