Svane is a cello professor at the University of Music in Lübeck and also has a cello class at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. He has given master classes in Australia, Asia, Ukraine, South America and in Europe. Among his students are numerous prize winners of international competitions (ARD, Feuermann, Geneva, Isang Yun, Rostropovich, Tchaikovsky) and members of renowned chamber music chamber music ensembles and orchestras, such as the Armida Quartet and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Svane has performed worldwide in concerts as a soloist, in recitals and as chamber musician. He has performed concerts with Yuri Bashmet, Thomas Brandis, Zakhar Bron, Anna Chumachenco, among others, Dong Suk Kang, Elisabeth Leonskaja and Feng Ning. Svane has worked on recordings of more than 40 CDs, including the complete works for cello and piano by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Reger. He studied with David Geringas at the Musikhochschule Lübeck and additionally has had lessons with, among others, Anner Bylsma, Frans Helmerson, Ralph Kirshbaum, György Ligeti, Yo-Yo Ma, Mstislav Rostropovich, Daniil Shafran, Paul Tortelier and the Amadeus Quartet.
