Violoncello

After his studies at the Conservatoire de Paris, Jérôme Pernoo was prize-winner of several international competitions, including the Rostropovich Competition in Paris in 1994 and the Concours de Pretoria in 1996. He has performed with numerous orchestras, including those from Vienna, Zurich and Stockholm and in 2010 he played for the first time at the Salzburg Festival and at Carnegie Hall New York. Various works have been dedicated to him, and in 2008 he performed the world premiere of Guillaume Connesson’s Cello Concerto. Pernoo is the founder of the festival “Les vacances de Monsieur Haydn.” and furthermore he has recorded the Cello Concerto by Jaques Offenbach for Deutsche Grammophon. There are numerous recordings of works by Rachmaninoff, Bridge, Saint-Saëns, Gabrielli, Bach and Beethoven also available. Pernoo performs on both an 18th-century baroque cello of the Milan School and a modern cello by instrument maker Franck Ravatin. He has been a professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris since 2005.
