Paul Neubauer recently made his Chicago Symphony debut and his Mariinsky Orchestra debut at the White Nights Festival. He also gave the U.S. Premiere of the newly discovered Impromptu for viola and piano by Shostakovich with pianist Wu Han. Appointed principal violist of the NY Philharmonic at age 21, he has appeared as soloist with over 100 orchestras in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has premiered viola concertos by Bartók (revised version), Friedman, Jacob, Kernis, Lazarof, Müller-Siemens, Ott, Penderecki, Picker, Suter, and Tower. On top of his innumerable orchestral, recital, and festival appearances, he has been a guest artist with New York City Ballet in Viola Alone, appeared on CBS´ Sunday Morning and A Prairie Home Companion. A twice Grammy nominee, he has recorded on numerous labels. He is the Artistic Director of the Mostly Music series in New Jersey and is on the faculty of The Juilliard School and Mannes College. Born in LA and currently residing in New York City, he holds a Master´s Degree from The Juilliard School.
